You might hear these terms bandied about when it comes to wages, when it comes to all sorts of stuff, but what does it actually mean?
Net when it comes to wages means the amount you get to spend, the amount you get into your bank that you then use as your tokens, to pay your bills and do all the fun stuff with.
Gross is the amount before tax and national insurance, before the government takes their chunk and before any pension contributions.
It's the amount that you get told in your contract that you'll get paid, but not the amount you actually get.
Confused yet, I know!
